In the mid '70s and was hard core until the late 80s when my body started getting dinged. After three incidents I called it done, it wasn't fun anymore by the time I got out in the beginning of the '90s when I signed up for and started college. I still had a lot of years before retirement age. I didn't have a diploma but I stuck it out and made it all the way through an advanced degree. Would have been a major boost in my career path if I had graduated a year or more before that. As it was, I graduated a month before 9/11... never did recover from that but I'm still here, retired thankfully, and not on the street so I call it a win.
