It's Horsie Saturday

We begin with our salt and pepper shakers. Because Laurie loves horses.

Maddie and Pete were gossiping over the fence yesterday.

The rest of today's post comes from Laurie's trail obstacle course at the old farm.

Looking at the background, kinda looks like you might have been somewhere near Ellensburg?

I used to run through there back in my driving days. I remember mountain ranges, hauled apples from Wenatchee, cherries from Yakima and all kinds of produce from all over the state so I passed through there a lot, just like everywhere else, back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s... when it was still fun.

When it became time to get out of trucking he had had it, right up to the roof his Kenworth. Driving professionally was no longer fun. Downright DANGEROUS in fact. His biggest peeve was four-wheelers showing up in his mirrors from literally NOWHERE and more often than not way too many "drivers" would sneak up in his blind spots and remain there; as if their cruise control was set to "invisible".

How long did you drive for? Were you local, regional?

In the mid '70s and was hard core until the late 80s when my body started getting dinged. After three incidents I called it done, it wasn't fun anymore by the time I got out in the beginning of the '90s when I signed up for and started college. I still had a lot of years before retirement age. I didn't have a diploma but I stuck it out and made it all the way through an advanced degree. Would have been a major boost in my career path if I had graduated a year or more before that. As it was, I graduated a month before 9/11... never did recover from that but I'm still here, retired thankfully, and not on the street so I call it a win.

Amazing what Laurie trained those horses to do!

Are Maddie and Pete speculating on what their new house will look like?
