Music Appreciation
In reply to the discussion: I'd really appreciate it if people in Music Appreciation would limit themselves to a maximum of 10 OPs a day. [View all]highplainsdem
(55,580 posts)28. ??????????? As far as cross-posts,
sometimes they're very useful to reach a particular group of DUers.
As for duplicate posts about something that happened that people find interesting politically - many of those are likely to be from people just logging in to DU who aren't aware it was posted before. But the fact that there are duplicate posts from multiple people doesn't justify limitless posts from one person in one day about music they like.
How about opting to drop MA from one's feed?
I hope people won't do that, but I can understand people unsubscribing from or even trashing this or any other forum they're not interested in, if they want to limit what they see here.
How Many more "tr*mp is a crazy jerk" do we need - after all this time NO ONE is surprised by that thought and nobody here would debate it.
Yes, we could have cut off any such reactions to Trump in 2016, and then we'd have one 9-year-old thread with a million replies that would never open.
You're suggesting banning emotional reactions to Trump on a political website that's as popular as it is because people use DU to vent.
How about limiting the number of OPs a member can post a day.
If EarlG made such a rule, I'd follow it. After all, I can post elsewhere, on Twitter and Bluesky and Reddit, and I can get a lot more views on Reddit, over half a million at times - though I follow their rules when there.
Maybe music ought to be put into a radio format: as an optional background music. But it would still need to be listed.
Some people here have linked to their own online radio shows, or a playlist, and it's common here to put multiple tracks in one OP, especially when posting multiple tracks by one artist on the same day.
There's no way to make MA into optional background music, and even if you could, it would likely be lagging far behind. posts.
Anyway, nothing you mentioned here is a good argument against asking people on this Music Appreciation board to limit themselves to a max of ten posts a day.
This board is NOT current events, like LBN and GD and E&OA, where you might see huge surges in activity, and where it's understandable that threads will quickly slip off the first page at those times.
It's people posting about music they like or find interesting, and with a limited number of spaces on the first page, there's no reason any one DUer posting here needs a big chunk of that page to tell others what music they like. There's always more days to post, as long as this board is here.
Ten threads lets them post ten songs if posted separately, or up to hundreds of songs if they post multiple songs in an OP or replies they add to an OP.
Are you really suggesting that's unfair and too restrictive because there are cross-posts, or DUers sometimes duplicating other people's posts, elsewhere on DU?
