7. I paid online

I tried the H&R Block online program and it came up with a figure I owed. I always set it aside and come back a few days later to review it and it said I owed more than the first time. So I went to the local H&R Block office and had them do it and it came up nearly $4,000 less than what the online program said. Although I paid a couple hundred dollars for it it still saved me thousands. Both California and the IRS have accepted my payments.
