Hillary Clinton's opening statement to House Oversight Committee
(Hillary Clinton) "As we all know ... too often Congressional investigations are partisan political theater, which is an abdication of duty and an insult to the American people. The Committee justified its subpoena to me based on its assumption that I have information regarding the investigations into the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Let me be as clear as I can. I do not."
Go to discussionRepublicans Dragged Hillary Clinton Back Into the Spotlight. They're Going to Regret It.
(Daily Beast) If youve noticed Hillary Clinton everywhere again, its not because she has launched a comeback tour. Its because Republicans still just cannot quit her. Despite the fact that she is not mentioned in the Epstein files, House Oversight Chair James Comer has subpoenaed her to testify today. (Her husband, Bill Clinton, will testify tomorrow.) It seems Republicans believe that Clinton can provide a distractionor at least a new punching bagin the scandal that has dogged the Trump administration for months. In forcing Clinton back into the spotlight, Republicans may have accidentally handed Democrats a gift.
Go to discussionJustice Department says it's reviewing whether any Epstein-related records were mistakenly withheld
(AP) The Justice Department said Wednesday that it was looking into whether it had improperly withheld documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files after several news organizations reported that some records involving uncorroborated accusations made by a woman against President Donald Trump were not among those released to the public. The announcement followed news reports saying that a massive tranche of records released by the Justice Department did not include several summaries of interviews that the FBI conducted with an unidentified woman who came forward after Epsteins 2019 arrest and claimed to have been sexually assaulted by both Trump and Epstein when she was a minor in the 1980s.

Go to discussionRepublicans are freaking out over Texas Senate race
(Politico) With just days until Texas primary, Republicans in Washington are growing more alarmed that their increasingly vicious intraparty contest could cost them a must-win Senate seat. Sen. John Cornyn appears to be headed to an expensive and nasty 10-week runoff against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, with a strong chance that Paxton wins the nomination even after national Republicans spent months airing his dirty laundry all over the Texas airwaves in an effort to boost Cornyn.
Go to discussionTrump sends Supreme Court clear message: I am the law
(Salon) In Donald Trumps mind, he is the state, and justice is whatever serves his interests. This is the logic of absolute monarchs, dictators and tyrants, and although it is antithetical to the Constitution and Americas founding principles, the president makes sure to put it on full display. Trump views the courts as his personal servants, not as a co-equal branch of government. By attacking the justices and suggesting they are pawns of some non-existent foreign conspiracy, he is simultaneously imperiling their safety and undermining the Constitution by suggesting they are traitors who are serving foreign interests, making them illegitimate.

An FBI spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the terminations.
Go to discussion'Women aren't less than': Team USA women's hockey players respond to Trump's joke
(NBC News) Members of Team USA's women's hockey team say they don't want their Olympic gold medal achievement to be overshadowed by the backlash over President Donald Trump's joke about having to invite them to the White House during a call to the men's team. Trump called the men's hockey team, still celebrating in the locker room after its own 2-1 gold medal win against Canada on Sunday, and invited the men to Tuesday's State of the Union address. But his joke during the phone call about also having to invite the women and the subsequent laughter from the men, which was captured on video and circulated widely on social media, set off a firestorm of criticism.
