Justice Department says it's reviewing whether any Epstein-related records were mistakenly withheld

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department said Wednesday that it was looking into whether it had improperly withheld documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files after several news organizations reported that some records involving uncorroborated accusations made by a woman against President Donald Trump were not among those released to the public.

The announcement followed news reports saying that a massive tranche of records released by the Justice Department did not include several summaries of interviews that the FBI conducted with an unidentified woman who came forward after Epstein’s 2019 arrest and claimed to have been sexually assaulted by both Trump and Epstein when she was a minor in the 1980s.

“Several individuals and news outlets have recently flagged files related to documents produced to Ghislaine Maxwell in discovery of her criminal case that they claim appear to be missing,” the Justice Department said in a post on X. “As with all documents that have been flagged by the public, the Department is currently reviewing files within that category of the production.” Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime confidant, is serving a 20-year prison sentence on a sex trafficking conviction.

It said that if any document is found to have been improperly withheld and is responsive to the federally enacted law mandating the files’ release, “the Department will of course publish it, consistent with the law.”

it could be believable. Accidentally removing files dealing with Trump, given we were TOLD thousands of FBI people flagged anything pertaining to Trump is simply not believable.

A better, though likely not true, story would have been that the FBI years before moved (not removed) files after accusations were thoroughly and privately investigated and found not credible. In parallel with putting together the case against Maxwell, cases should have been started against others whose actions deserved it. It is entirely possible that some people intertwined with Maxwell and Epstein might not have been quilty of anything indictable.

However, I think the clumsy unbelievable excuse that it was an accident makes that claim less likely to convince anyone.

We should demand that Maureen Comey and others appear before Congress to address the status of investigations before Trump fired her.

... you know, the ones that Chump stored in the back bathroom. Those were mostly packed under the direction of Mark Meadows and his staff (as testified by Cassidy Hutchinson.) We've been told they were Chump's "private property" and they had to do with top-secret communications, vis-a-vis Putin and the Middle East.

What if some of the Epstein evidence was also hidden in those boxes? How would we ever know? Has anyone asked Meadows - or Bill Barr - about any of this? Barr could have easily snagged it when nobody was looking.

The DOJ is the Felon's DOJ. It does not work for the American people.

It is unprecedented in history and once the stink leaves the Presidency, let's hope and pray nothing remotely like this ever happens again!

The next Democrat who serves as President has a huge challenge in front of him. But we have a strong bench and there are very capable persons out there.

We can't wait for some relief from the Felon's constant Unconstitutional actions and oppression of so many Americans.

But first things first: Let's win a huge majority for Democrats in November, and win back the Senate as well.
