I feel terrible for the families. I may have mentioned this before, but I went to the USSR in the late '80s with my grandmother and her peace group who had a "sister town" there. And it was no exaggeration that the Russian people were dedicated to peace. We met with other peace groups, there were statues calling for peace and plaques dedicated to those who had been lost. They really suffered during WWII fought on their own land, there were even museums in the schools to teach the children so they'd never forget. And I still remember one older woman who had been a nurse during WWII who said "when you go home, please tell your president that we want peace." It looks like things have changed.
