I've gotten some insight from Liz Cheney's book since she discusses the impeachment votes of her fellow Republicans and the excuses they came up with - they were afraid for their families and of being primaried - which happened. Of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach TFG over January 6th, which all of them had experienced first hand, only 10 voted to impeach and only 2 of them were elected to the next Congress in favor of election deniers.
