and here are my thoughts:

on the down side:
* it's missing "open in new window" for multiple bookmarks. it's a feature in brave and chrome
* it. is. very. slow. slower than a one legged dead rat when loading stuff. i've got a fairly beefy system (although it is a few years old). 64G of system memory, and a pretty decent i7 processor (again, a few years old) and a hardwired internet connection (no wifi).
* from what i see, it is using m$ edge as its engine. looking at the process tree in Process Explorer, i see 12 msedgewebview2 tasks spin up. i kinda wish they'd built it on top of firefox.
* it bypasses a lot of security and firewall stuff. example: i use "freedom" to reduce distractions during work hours, including sites like DU. ddg allows me to get to them.

the good:
* significant reduction in the number of ads, including ones in yt videos (something you commented on)

i'm still kind of on the fence about it. to gain popularity, it will need to work on its speed.
