Someone’s the soundtrack will revert to that of the previous clip you were watching. I observed what you did too.

This morning, I am on a 3rd generation iPhone SE, with the newest iOS, 18.5, and Safari.

The original definitely has “but,” while the revision has “or.” The NYT marked his comment as possibly being misspoken. I sat through the original, at twice the playback speed. He definitely made the odd remark the first time around.
