there's a reference to a similar case in that. The character played by Marlene Dietrich, the widow of a general whose career started long before the Nazis did wanted to be executed by firing squad "like a soldier," and his wife pleaded fir it on his behalf, but this was not granted, and he was hanged. And is she ever bitter about that!
