Related: About this forumMarjorie Taylor Greene goes scorched earth against Trump - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
BTC: With the midterms approaching, Trump is flailing so badly, he's making Marjorie Taylor Greene looks sane. This is just another day.
I know what you're thinking. Brian, why aren't you at the Met Gala? Funny story. I've been planning to go. I'm really excited. Then last month, I'm watching the Grammys. I find out Chappell Roan has stolen my Met look. Pink Pony Club, more like Pink Pony Bitch.
So, let's turn to a different feminine phenomenon that of former MAGA megastar Marjorie Taylor Greene, who despite being hot to get the hell out of Congress earlier this year, still has a few things about the Trump administration she'd like to get off her chest and last week at the Ron Paul Institute of Texas, she did just that.

MTG: When we started talking about releasing the Epstein files, I'm like, this is a no-brainer. President Trump will just roll them out on a big cart himself.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Okay, Marjorie, there's your first mistake. Trump doesn't even roll his own suitcases. He doesn't roll his own dice. In fact, back in the Epstein Island days, the man wouldn't even roll his own 20s to snort lines off of Alan Dershowitz's ass, allegedly. But excuse me, Marjorie, please continue.
[cut to video]
MTG: Well, it was the most shocking thing when I sat in a conference meeting and I learned that the president didn't want to release the Epstein files. I was like, "What?"
[cut to studio]
BTC: Uh, welcome to reality, Marge. We haven't been expecting you. Honestly, I really didn't think she'd come around and I almost feel bad for her. It must be so jarring to realize Trump's been lying to her for so long. Kind of like how Eric feels every time Trump tells him, "What? Of course I love you, son."
And I don't think that it's just the afterglow of spending 60 hours in a tanning bed. Greene seems to be radiating genuine rage that Donald Trump didn't even try to distance himself from Epstein while pressuring her to drop her support for the Epstein discharge petition.
[cut to video]
MTG: Well, I'll never forget it. I was in my office in the Rayburn Building and I got a phone call from the president and he was at the White House and he wanted to talk to me about the dis discharge petition that I'd signed my name on. And he said, "Marjorie, you're going to have to take your name off that discharge petition." And he said, "My friends are going to get hurt."
He said his friends would get hurt if we release the Epstein files. He said, "Marjorie, these are good people. These are people, you know, at Mar-a-Lago. People in Palm Beach, they're going to get hurt by this." And I said, "Mr. President, people have been hurt. These women have been hurt." I said, "You should talk to them. You should have them in the Oval Office, Mr. President. You have everybody in the Oval Office and he wouldn't have anything to do with them.

BTC: Okay, now I'm pissed. Who was supposed to show Marjorie Taylor Greene the Access Hollywood tape? Seriously, whose job was it to tell her about the dozens of women who accused him of sexual assault? I know it was part of somebody's workflow.
So, why is Marjorie Taylor Greene just finding out about this now that Trump doesn't give a shit about women in 2026,the year of our Lord, when the rest of us have known for a decade, somebody dropped the ball. And when I find out who, in the words of a widely known misogynist prick, you're fired.
But I find it genuinely hard to wrap my head around the depth of Marjorie Taylor Greene 's shock and grief about all of this. Just listen.
[cut to video]
MTG: To actually be asked by the president of the United States to back off and not help these women. That's when MAGA died.
[cut to studio]
BTC: That's when MAGA died. Strong language, Marjorie. Write it in seashells and we might have to throw you in prison. And speaking of death threats, after breaking with Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene actually received several on her own, both against her and her son so she contacted the administration looking for help. I bet you can guess what happened next.
[cut to video]
MTG: I sent them to all these people. I got no response from Susie Wiles. None. And she's a mother and a grandmother and a woman. I got no response from James Blair because he only cares about making money on campaigns. I did hear from Kash Patel. He said on it, but I haven't heard from him since. I don't know what he's on. [audience laughs]
[cut to studio]
BTC: Uh oh. Better watch out with those digs at Kash Patel, Marge. Next thing you know, he'll be looking for you in all different directions at the same time. [inset image of cross-eyed Kash Patel]
[cut to video]
MTG: And then I heard back from Donald Trump and I've saved these text messages. I'd probably get put in jail if I released them publicly, but I saved them where Donald Trump proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and that I deserve it. If my son gets killed, I deserve it because I was a traitor to him. That is our President of the United States. That's the man that says MAGA is whatever he wants it to be.

BTC: Trump feels betrayed by Greene. Greene feels betrayed by Trump. You guys have both seen how the other treats people, right? You teamed up with someone evil and now you're surprised that they're being awful to you? I'm not sure I can unpack all of the crazy underneath Greene's misguided sense of justice, but as for Trump, for a guy so obsessed with gilding things he wipes his ass with bullion bricks, the man knows shit about the golden rule.
But this moment is bigger than Marjorie Taylor Greene. Trump isn't just losing the fringe. According to the latest polls, he's losing the middle.

Harry Enten: The lowest net approval ratings ever for the President of the United States. That is approval minus disapproval. What is driving this? What is driving this bus into the swamp for the president of the United States?
Well, how about this? How about GOP leaning independents? That is independents who are normally a part of the president's coalition. Independents who say when they're pushed that they lean towards the Republican party. You know, back in the 2024 election versus Kamala Harris. Look at this. Donald Trump got 91% of that vote. That's near uniformity right there. Very close to 100%. 91% of that vote back in the 2024 election. Jump forward what is it a year and a half now look at where he is on the job approval rating when you average the ABC News Washington Post poll along with the Pew Research Center poll that came out late last week. He is now at just a 53% job approval rating. It's a 38 point drop in just about a year's and a half worth of time. President Trump with a core group of his that pretty much all backed him back in 2024 in massive trouble right now.

BTC: Jesus. Trump hasn't looked this bad since that time he wore shorts. Things aren't going well. We know it. He knows it. And he finally seems to be losing interest in trying to talk us out of what we're seeing with our own eyes. Take gas prices for example.
[cut to video from CBS Morning News]
Voiceover: AAA reports the national average for gallon of regular has jumped 30 cents in just one week. This morning, you see it right here. It stands at $4.46.

WH Correspondent: As we enter the 10th week of the war and the start of the summer travel season, the White House now won't commit to any new timeline for when drivers may see relief at the pump.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Trump won't commit. Can't he pretend like Melania does with him?
Actually, I don't think he can. I think this administration has reached a tipping point. Trump is done trying to convince us he's any good at what he's doing. Instead, he's decided to make his own rules. He's gerrymandering every state he can into oblivion, issuing executive orders to delegitimize mail and ballots, pressuring Senate Republicans to get rid of the filibuster to pass the SAVE America Act. Just look at the clowns he's trying to pack the courts with. Seriously, these are his most recent judicial nominees.

Senator Chris Coons: Mr. Marck, is President Trump eligible to run for president again in 2028?
John Marck: Senator, with a without considering all the facts and and looking at everything, depending on what the situation is, this to me strikes as more of a hypothetical of something that could be.
Coons: It's not a hypothetical. Has President Trump been elected president twice?
Marck: President Trump has been certified the president of the United States two times.
Coons: Is he eligible to run for a third term under our constitution?
Marck: Um, I would have to to review the the
Coons: All I need to tell you is the language of the constitutional amendment that makes it clear that no, he is not eligible to run for a third term. Anybody else brave enough to say that the Constitution of the United States prevents President Trump from seeking a third term? [silence] Anybody willing to apply the Constitution by its plain language in the 22nd Amendment? [silence] Nobody. All right, let's move on.
[cut to studio]
BTC: The 2026 elections are right around the corner and Trump knows he cannot win on his agenda because his agenda is abysmal. Gas prices, electricity, healthcare, housing. Trump is not only not fixed any of it, he's made it exponentially worse.
So now at crunch time, he's surrounding himself with people who make Marjorie Taylor Greene look reasonable, who will help him doctor a different reality with different rules because he knows he can't win in the real one. And honestly, Trump's desperation is the only reasonable conclusion I've seen him draw lately. If he wasn't desperate, you know what I'd be thinking?
[inset video]
MTG: I don't know what he's on.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Exactly.
