What are your VALUES? Gen. Mark Hertling questions Trump and Hegseth - The Best People - Nicolle Wallace

Retired Army Lieutenant General Mark Hertling sits down with Nicolle Wallace on “The Best People” getting emotional about his three combat deployments, his 38-year career, and what led him to write his new book ”If I Don’t Return." The book is a collection of raw and revealing missives written for his sons in the event he didn’t make it home.

Hertling opens up on a war moment that changed him forever and lays out his vision of leadership for any field of work. Hertling notes that while active-duty generals serve at the behest of the President that voters choose, the current leadership in the White House and at the Pentagon do not seem to understand the mission.

He gets candid on why some actions by Trump are going to “dangerous territory” and wants to know the values of Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
