I still remember when I was about the same age when I came home from school to an empty house and I freaked out, turns out my mother and pre-school brother were just at a neighbor's...

And my mother, at the same age, was a latch key kid since her parents were both immigrants (from Poland) and worked full time, so my mother was also responsible for her little sister...

I definitely remember the record number who came out in my small city, ran into seven people I knew. And then there are the kids who are traumatized by the mass shootings and the drills in the schools. My cousin's daughter is still traumatized just from the drills...
