So much for loyalty: Red states 'devastated' by Trump cuts, tariffs - Inside w/Jen Psaki - MSNBC

According to a New York Times analysis, red states have been disproportionately impacted by retaliatory tariffs. That, plus cuts to FEMA and NOAA, means red states will have millions less in funding for natural disasters. - Aired on 03/17/2025.

I looked him up to see how long he's been serving (1999) so it's safe to say that I've voted for him every time Rhiannon12866 Mar 18 #6

Well, I live in the New York North Country. We got redistricted in 2013 to be part of NY-21, as far north as it goes Rhiannon12866 Mar 18 #8

You deserve better. The Country deserves better. Sorry he went against the whole Democratic House & the Majority of Senate Dems. If we don't see eye to eye, that's ok our friendship can survive this. Just goes to show we can be of different minds Yet still work together.

Then, of course, Senator Gillibrand used to be my congresswoman. When Senator Clinton was appointed Secretary of State by President Obama, Governor Paterson appointed Gillibrand to take her place. I worked on the Special Election to replace her since her successor is local to me and is as smart as they come. I desperately wish he was still my congressman. *sigh*

I have forgotten what it's like to have a Dem Senator, a Dem House member, Hell even a Dem Governor. I really am hating Florida.

We inherited a moderate Democrat from up north, but when he retired in 2015, I went to the meetup he held to introduce his chosen successor. I liked him a lot and made GOTV calls for him. However, he lost that first election to Stefanik and we've been stuck with her ever since even though there were mass protests when she first took office. What I'm trying to say is that New York is a "blue state" due to the overwhelming Democratic votes coming from downstate. Other than mayors, who always seem to be Democrats, most local offices are Republicans running unopposed - so I can sympathize. It rarely takes me much time to vote.
