Should have traded Tatum. Sadly, Tatum didn't help in 2025 and couldn't make the bell against the 76'ers in 2026. Big mistake, IMHO.

(4,251 posts)Brown's salary will put the sixers up against the apron. Once other guys get paid they are screwed.
Still think the Celtics could have gotten more but they put the Sixers in cap hell.
The Hershell walker trade was the most one sided in the NFL because Jimmy Johnson played guys who sucked to trigger escalators to better picks (honorable mention for the Ricky Williams trade).
The thunder got a gazillion picks that turned into a championship team.

(33,017 posts)I get what you are saying, but Tatum wasn't perfect either. Brown was more of an impact player in the Boston community than Tatum was, too.

(61,953 posts)I've been a Celts fan since 1967 - listen to or watch every game. I appreciate what Jaylen did in many ways - but am fine with the change - the break up of the Js. It was time.

(6,198 posts)Celtics also got two firsts and two seconds.
I have seen lots of language mentioning the two main players but this was not a straight swap.
Still valid to criticize but the terms are not as one sided as the straight swap would imply

(33,017 posts)I get they couldn't carry two $300mm contracts,,,,but we'd have been a better team if they had traded Jason, IMHO, of course.

.and I thought the Dallas Mavericks trading away Luka Dončić to the Lakers was the worst trade in NBA History,
