@Elad, @EarlG
I have no idea whether this will help diagnose the slowness, but here goes:
I don't know whether other people are bookmarking more threads for future reading, or retrieval, but I have been using boookmarks more frequently recently. If those bookmarks are causing links to be pre-loaded for rapid viewing, overall performance could go down, both from a networking, and memory consumption point of view.

The other thing I noticed this morning was some pictures not loading properly and 'empty' posts. Turns out my VPN was causing that (ExpressVPN). My supposition is that the site's DDoS prevention and my VPN are interacting in a way that causes more network bandwidth to be consumed and more timeouts to occur.

Disabling ExpressVPN cleared up some of the performance problems I was experiencing. I've had other sites break after an ExpressVPN update this week. But my expertise doesn't extend to being able to diagnose further. However, if logs or anything else would help, I'm probably open to generating some.
