I know it's normal. Unmoored. This will probably pass. Nobody can die for the next year or so. You hear me universe? Thanks for listening.
Thank you all for your kind words.

(139,229 posts)I can't bear to think of such happening, especially as my brother is 5 years younger than I.

(43 posts)I won't say I understand. But, I've had a similar experience. I lost my mom when I was just turning 30. My father had passed when I was in my early 20s, but he had not been much a part of my life since my parents divorced when I was 8.
But, when I lost my mom I became lost. It takes time, and effort, and refusing to give up on believing there's something worth living for, for making, for experiencing.
You'll get there. Be where you are now. Just know you'll be somewhere else in the future. There is a future.

(4,059 posts)The death of a sibling hits hard... the loss of personal stories and history... the person who has known you forever.
I hope the universe treats you gently for a while!

(725 posts)Of course you can't focus. It will take awhile. Meanwhile, take VERY good care of yourself. ❤️🩹

(6,399 posts)It will be a difficult year of firsts but you probably already know this fact. Do you have a support system? My friends helped me when I lost my son 4 years ago. I'm an only so I cannot begin to imagine the lost of a sibling.

(5,662 posts)Most of it old family dynamics that were unhealthy. I would imagine losing a child would be worse. At my age I expect to out-live my older siblings and I expect will go through this 3 more times. Thanks for checking in.
