to look either forward or back in the same blackened tunnel
there are no bridges left to burn nor roads needed to defend
a balance between want and lack time drifts down the funnel
traveling with no way to measure quickly lose count of steps
down a road that started nowhere yet is heading somewhere
exist for moments of pleasure divide the pain from the depth
no name signs the tarmac is bare no signals streetlights glare
directionless as the compass spins walk with a hesitant stride
look to the north look to the south glance wildly east to west
burdened by the baggage of sins and so many secrets to hide
immersed in a depression of doubt a heavy heart in the chest
choices made cannot be reversed debating the sliver of a soul
as each destination is to be cursed when paying the final toll
