dream of death
last night the dream of death came carried on a heart
a lost concentration pulled and pushed both in and out
the time to take a breath and cause time to again start
all thoughts that once mulled overcome in deep doubt
the same dream has tantalized and haunted each night
falling to sleep in some innocence and to be taken over
by fear that can not be rationalized either dark or light
to awaken crying sweat drenched huddled undercover
hesitation begins to encroach as heavy eyes blink slow
early or late lit lights are lying the windows curtained
whenever a night does approach dank dark rivers flow
full in the tears of the dying a destination unexplained
sleep comes and with it dread cold quiet but of no rest
add together as scars shed blood of the mother’s breast
