I just started writing haikus

I've never been a big fan of poetry in general. But this format fascinates me. Here's one of the first ones I've attempted:

Dawn
Clouds part for the sun
A stillness settles my soul
Chirping birds report

I usually get up several hours before my wife does. It's my favorite time of day. So peaceful and the perfect time to think. (And write poems).

I love haiku & senryu, the latter following the same format, but speaking about human nature & I suppose other animals' natures.

I used to write a lot of them & started carrying a tablet (paper lol) & pen with me so that as life presented verse inspiration, I could capture it in the fly.

Pretty soon, the muses were taking over my conscious life, so I stopped.

Maybe I should take it back up, as a diversion wouldn't be a bad thing these days.
