What's for Dinner, Tues., March 24, 2026

I bought my cat some mackerel and since he is such a persnickety little character, gave him a tiny bit for starters He was indifferent. I guess he won't mind if I have the larger piece, then. I sauteed it in olive oil, so now I will add some black pepper and herbs.

Yum, it really is quite delicious.

Also making spiralized zucchini salad with goat cheese, olive oil, and lemon.

No kombucha until tomorrow, so lemon water.

Found some more organic strawberries, so now I can have strawberries and whipped cream with the shortcakes.

I made another starter. My daughter gave me some of her starter and I mixed it in mine. It's been working since Sunday. I made another loaf of bread today.

I had pineapple sorbet and blueberries for dessert.

Happy Tuesday!

Broiled pollock fillets in a teriyaki glaze, steamed asparagus with mushrooms and air-fried sweet potato nuggets. Cheers!🥂
Aldi’s has frozen wild caught pollock fillets; 2lbs for a very decent price. Not fishy…so far

"fishiness" is if the fish is not fresh. Since Aldi and most other stores who sell fish keep it in a semi-frozen state, that most likely won't happen.

Should you leave it in your frig too long and it you worry about fishiness, you can soak it in milk or buttermilk and it will take that taste out.

If I buy fresh fish and I know I'm not going to cook it in a day or two, I'll put it in a glass container and soak it in milk anyway, just to avoid that.

I’ve been buying frozen fish at Aldi’s since they’ve been around. Most of the time there aren’t any problems, but I only buy frozen wild caught seafood. However for the first time, a couple weeks ago, I had to return a bag of skinless pink salmon which I don’t think even a milk bath could save. Soon as I it thawed it out it was apparent it was bad, just by the color. Was disgusting. I took a picture and Aldi’s accepted this as proof of purchase since I disposed of the fish as soon as I realized it was spoiled. They gladly replaced the fish and gave me a full refund as well.

Tofu, mushrooms and bok choy served over wild and long grain rice. Nice sesame, soy sauce and ginger seasoning.

No buns in the house and a slice of bread didn’t hold up to the size of it plus the condiments (sweet relish and BBQ sauce). I made two so I’d have one ready to reheat for lunch at work tomorrow, but glad I had a trial run because I’m using a WW tortilla tomorrow because I know it won’t explode on me!

Hitting the strawberries for dessert. Publix had them BOGO (buy one, get one free, in case this is just a Florida thing…) and I need to eat them up before they get old on me.
