Pot roast with potatoes and broccoli
Brownies
And as a special treat, a Dark and Stormy (Cruzan Dark Rum + Ginger Beer, something we discovered in St. Thomas)

This is exactly the way they make it on St. Thomas. Add pineapple juice and it's something else.

baked beans.

Small bowl of fruit salad and piece of angel food cake before bedtime.

Went mushrooming today and we only found 11. Very disappointed 😞. Loretta found 9 and I found 2. Hardly enough for a big mess yet. Guess who found the two smallest ones?

hey, they are all interesting looking.
Mushrooms, morels...all fascinating.
The RG took a course in mycology when he lived in Italy.

I wonder why Loretta has such a knack for finding them.

I'm on my own, first time ever, I think. I had strip steak, broiled with butter and garlic. I roasted some green beans, topped those with crispy onions. I baked a loaf of bread this morning, so I had a slice of garlic toast. Happy Easter!

Lamb shanks (garlic, onion, paprika, thyme) slow-braised. Rice and asparagus. For dessert, my second try at the 1943 prune spice cake. (It looks like all purpose flour was the right correction.)

mashed potatoes, asparagus. Dessert is yellow cake with strawberries and whipped cream. My son did not appreciate my mom joke:
"When you do the cream, do it like Devo." "What are you even talking about?" "Whip it, whip it good!"

Baked beans, bicolour corn, black bean/corn burgers for me, and some kind of giant sausage thingies for him.

And man… I’m apparently STARVED for sweet corn! Sliced off the kernels from TWO ears and ate almost nothing else until it was almost gone.
