Mobland on Paramount Plus is my new favorite distraction. Helen Mirren is excellent in damn near everything she does

I am not usually a fan of Gangster/Mob stories. Except for The Wire which was so much more than a series about gangsters. Anyhoo, I was never a fan of The Sopranos, or other popular series and movies.
This one has me hooked. Pierce Brosnan as the head of a crime family - talk about typecast - but it works. His wife, Helen Mirren's - Maeve is one of those unforgettable characters. Tom Hardy as the family fixer/enforcer is so well played.

The whole cast is good. I really like Tom Hardy in it too. The grandson character is so damned creepy, he is even more psychopathic than Mirren's character. I'm rooting for the worst to take him out.

Not a lot of redeeming aspects to these characters, though. Sopranos it is NOT.

Excellent production values, superb casting, sublime acting, combined with a plot that draws one into the mobland's unceasing maelstrom of pathos, violence and depravity.

Guy Ritchie as director and producer is an enormous talent in his own right.

Recommend it highly!

IMDB Rating: 8.2

Power is up for grabs as two warring crime families clash in a battle that threatens to topple empires. In the crossfire stands Harry Da Souza, a street-smart 'fixer' who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide.
