The second set of episodes from the fifth and final season was released on 26 December, but saw audience scores drop sharply since. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the overall score stood at 56 per cent at the time of writing, down from over 70 previously. This is the lowest rating for any season of the series; the first season holds a 97 per cent audience score, the second 94 per cent, the third 89 per cent, the fourth 90 per cent.
Additionally, episode seven, titled Chapter Seven: The Bridge, which features Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) coming out as gay to his friends and family, has become the lowest-rated episode in the entire series, with many online complaining that the series had turned woke.

Homophobia hasn't gone away folks! It is still here. It is still damaging. And, it is still largely ignored!

(3,400 posts)... the narrow-minded bigotry surrounding alternative sexual or gender identities, I ask the bigot, "Do you know why men have nipples?" I always have to explain that the question is not a non sequitur. ALL human beings, indeed, all mammals, are female at conception. The Y chromosome that defines maleness does not manifest itself until later in the gestation period. That manifestation occurs on an infinitely variable time scale within the gestation period, as does every other aspect of fetal development, including the brain, and, in turn, the mind. The "mind" part is critical, as it is there that a person's concept of his or her self resides. Bottom line: All over the planet, people are literally born gay every minute of every day.
For the record, I am a straight, married man only a year and change shy of 80, and boy Howdy, I've seen some shit.
Another thing that enrages me is when the room-temperature IQs squeal "That's WOKE!" without knowing what the hell woke even means. For the unenlightened, the definition from Merriam Webster's dictionary reads thusly:
[To be] aware of, and actively attentive to, important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)
Anyone who is against that is someone with whom I would never even shake hands before I'd had the shots.
Have a nice day.
