County employees hold "Practicing Strike"

EL CENTRO — Imperial County employees spent their lunch time holding a two-hour “Practicing Strike” on Tuesday morning to demand fair wages from the County of Imperial.
Francisco J. Garcia, a 25-year veteran employee with the Imperial County Public Works Department, said his current salary after those years with the local government is $17. He also said his colleagues' and his salaries have been frozen for the last decade.
“They haven't raised anything, not even the cost of living,” he said.
“It’s impossible,” he said after being asked if that wage makes it difficult to raise a family.
