The market for houses must be good in Central Michigan.

Realtor came by to look at our house this morning and just called. Thinks she has a buyer. Not a done deal, but it’s a great start. More money than I was hoping for too.

Realtors always advise, "Price your home correctly! Realtors know your market!" To me it's no more accurate than a doctor's diagnosis. In my pea brain better to be overpriced with offers than underpriced. But what do I know.

suggested as an asking price. Leaves me with lots of wiggle room. Already bought and paid for our new place.

to price it anywhere near what it wd b worth 1 zipcode away. my hood has amazing housing stock, low density, good public trans, beaches, big lots. but it’s at least 25% lower than the hood just south, which has little of that. and 100% below hoods closer to downtown. and north of here, in evanston, it’s double, and taxes r double.

i was told that we couldnt use any of that as comps. that ppl dont look at other areas.
bullshit. we did. the last tenants i had bought in evanston.
and did i mention we r the most racially diverse hood in the state? oh. funny how that works.

she insisted it was cuz the house next door had just sold, and i could only get a bit more than that. also bullshit. i did a wonderful gut rehab, it’s the cutest house on the block. and that place needed a new kitchen, and a bunch of other work. new owners didnt even move in for 2 mos.
i shd have stood my ground. the ppl who bought it fell in love and def wd have paid more.
that other house? just sold again. for the exact price i got for mine.

it’s a racket. a racist racket. and you’d think realtors wd want higher, fair prices. but they dont. cuz houses here r rly easy to sell.

unless u r caught in a mortgage squeeze, hold out. it only take 1 person to fall in love.

Award winning fire dept. great library and have the Tribal Police. I always say I don’t own my property, I’m just a caretaker. Taxes are less than half from being in town.

My big problem is moving. The other day I loaded the van, drove the 175 miles, unloaded and drove back north. About half way I realized I am 75 years old.
