Chief Judge Dan Greear (R) launches re-election bid for W.Va. Intermediate Court of Appeals

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — Chief Judge Dan Greear has announced he is running for re-election to the West Virginia Intermediate Court of Appeals, Division Two.

Greear, a South Charleston native, was appointed to the position by former Gov. Jim Justice in 2022. The Intermediate Court of Appeals serves as a middle ground between circuit courts, the family courts and the Supreme Court.

Greear said the court’s docket has allowed it to make decisions 11 months faster than the Supreme Court, which he said means more money for West Virginia and its taxpayers.

“We’ve decided about 1,800 cases in the four years we’ve been in existence and only 18 of those have been disturbed at all on appeal, so I think that’s a pretty good record,” Greear said. “Of the 99% or so success rate, we’re very happy about that. We’re proud of our record, and we’d encourage the citizens to look at that and when we go to the voting booth in May, I think that speaks well of the job we’ve done and I would look forward to their support in May.”
