Sara Nelson faces strong challenge from Dionne Foster for Seattle City Council Position #9
Seattle City Council President Sara Nelson is in danger of losing her seat this autumn to Dionne Foster, who has led the Progress Alliance and formerly worked at the Seattle Foundation, NPIs latest survey of the Emerald City electorate suggests.
Asked about their voting intention for Seattle City Council Position #9 this summer, 27% said in the aggregate that they had voted or would vote for Nelson, who was elected four years ago, while 22% said Foster. 1% said challenger Connor Nash, 1% said challenger Mia Jacobson, 43% were not sure, and 6% said they would not vote.
After we followed up with information from the voters pamphlet specifically, the candidates occupations as listed in the pamphlet, and a link to the full statements on kingcounty.gov/elections for all Position #9 candidates Foster overtook Nelson, inverting the dynamic in the aggregate responses to our initial question to build a symbolic four-point lead that is within the surveys 4.1% modeled margin of error.
36% said they would vote for Foster in response to that question, while 32% said Nelson, 5% said Jacobson, 2% said Nash, and 26% said they were not sure.
