Hugo Garcia announces re-election bid for Burien City Council Position 1

Burien City Councilmember Hugo Garcia announced this week that he will seek re-election to Position 1, pledging to continue advocating for working families, small businesses, and inclusive policies in the city.

Garcia – first elected in 2021 – previously served as chair of both the Burien Planning Commission and the city’s Business and Economic Development Partnership.

A longtime resident of the area, Garcia immigrated from Guadalajara, Mexico, and moved to Burien in the early 1990s.

“My work here is not done,” Garcia said in a statement. “I will stand up for my neighbors and work every day to build a resilient city where all of our families can have the same opportunities I had as an immigrant kid raised in Burien before it became a city in the mid-90s.”
