What a boob: Texas school district bans Virginia state flag and seal over naked breast

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/18/texas-bans-virginia-flag-breast

Virginia’s state flag and seal, depicting the Roman goddess Virtus standing over a slain tyrant, her drooping toga exposing her left breast, has been banned from younger students in a Texas school district.

The district, Lamar consolidated independent school district, near Houston, took action against the image late last year when it removed a section about Virginia from its online learning platform used by third through fifth graders, typically encompassing ages eight to 11, sparking a row, Axios reported on Thursday.

I grew up in Va. Lived there 25 years. Was never aware of the porn sitting right in front of my face!

... and a dead king.

(That's "thus always to tyrants", which is bound to be ultra-unpopular with Trumpists.)

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli risked more national ridicule when he gave his staff a PG version of the commonwealth seal recently. (2010)

At that time their tourism board was advertising with the words, "No place but Texas." Every time my friend and I saw something stupid happening, we'd look at each other and one of us would say -with the appropriate amount of sarcasm-, "No place but Texas."

So, with sarcasm and disdain pegged, I once again say, "No place but Texas."

At least, the Wikipedia description of Virtus states that the traits personified by the deity Virtus were “all perceived as masculine”:

“Virtus (Classical Latin: [ˈwɪrtuːs̠]) was a specific virtue in ancient Rome that carried connotations of valor, masculinity, excellence, courage, character, and worth, all perceived as masculine strengths. It was thus a frequently stated virtue of Roman emperors, and was personified as the deity Virtus.”

Although I couldn’t help but notice that the statuette they show of Virtus would also probably be banned in that Texas school district:

Seriously, can someone share a pixellated .gif of the Virginia flag ?
