Onondaga County legislator withdraws from re-election bid. Democrats scramble to replace her

Syracuse, N.Y. – Onondaga County Legislator Palmer Harvey, D-Syracuse, on Monday withdrew as a candidate for re-election, setting off a scramble to find another Democrat to replace her on the November ballot.

Harvey, a one-term Democrat representing parts of the North and East sides of Syracuse, did not specify a reason when she formally declined her spot on the ballot Monday.

She was endorsed in February by the county Democratic Party along with four other incumbent Democrats on the legislature.

Harvey submitted paperwork Monday afternoon to formally decline her designation as the Democratic candidate and as the Working Families Party candidate.
