Former Pennsylvania governor, Philly mayor endorses McGreevey in Jersey City

Former Pennsylvania Governor and Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell on Thursday endorsed Jim McGreevey for the mayorship of Jersey City, according to a release.

Rendell’s tenure as governor overlapped with McGreevey’s stint as New Jersey’s governor for nearly two years.

“Jim McGreevey understands what it takes to govern a great American city,” Rendell said in the release. “Like me, Jim has managed budgets in tough times, tackled affordability head-on, and worked to ensure every child has access to a quality education. He knows that a mayor’s job is about more than speeches. It’s about getting results.”

The endorsement is expected to help McGreevey’s fundraising efforts.
