Colorado House ethics committee begins work on complaint against Rep. Ron Weinberg (R)
A Colorado House ethics committee that is reviewing misconduct allegations against Rep. Ron Weinberg, a Loveland Republican, met for the first time Monday, laying out the next steps for its work to determine if he violated ethics and workplace harassment guidelines.
Rep. Brandi Bradley, a Littleton Republican, filed a complaint with House leadership in July alleging Weinberg made sexual comments to her and other women in the House, obtained and copied a master key to the Colorado Capitol and violated campaign finance laws, among other concerns.
House Speaker Julie McCluskie on Wednesday appointed a committee of five representatives tasked with determining if it appears to a reasonable person that a violation may have occurred. The committee must make a probable cause determination by Feb. 26.
In an interview with Newsline Monday, Weinberg denied all allegations made against him. He said it seems odd that it took House leadership seven months to determine the complaint had merit, and that Bradley filed the complaint after announcing he would run against her for a leadership position.
