A long-ago photo . . . September, 1975.

Me and my daughters, out for the day, walking on UCLA's campus. My husband took the photo. It was such a lovely day!

Those were the years when I was making my own shirts. But my daughter wanted my sewing machine so I gave it to her and then my sewing days were over. But I sure did love wearing them.

My pleasure to share! I am doing pretty well.

You have us all thinking back - okay, what was I doing in 1975?

Okay, I was a young man, just a few years out of the Navy, a few years married and a first time homeowner. Not too exciting, but all in all a good life.

I suspect your life wasn't exciting, but you don't need excitement to have a good life.

We were driving from Long Island to Harrisburg to celebrate the Bicentennial with relatives. It wasn't Philly, but I thought it was just as relevant at the time. We made a rest stop at the Delaware Water Gap where I encountered my first Portolet. It was fetid enough to make me think twice and I made a quick exit. My shutterbug dad caught me on the way out and had me stand right there for a portrait in my striped t-shirt and checkered pants.

But nothing beats the feeling later that night of being with Harrisburg cousins, late Mom, and late aunt as we got up and down to change the channel between pre-4th televised celebrations that night.

We were all together for a reunion and funeral just five weeks ago. It was great. But I still wasn't happy with how I looked in pictures. But this time I was sure to steer clear of the Portolet.

Thanks for sparking memories CaliforniaPeggy.
