an exploding star

at the end of april a japanese astromer discovered a new supernova in ngc 5907 the splinter galaxy.

this is my shot of it from my backyard. the supernova explosion is so powerful it put out as much energy in teh blast as our sun will put out in its entire lifetime. supernova are responsible for creating all the heavy elements after iron.
