Badlands NP: Dawn sky through ground fog (as it rapidly forms) .. with constellations overhead.



I see Taurus, Orion, and Canis Major. Orion's Belt points downward toward the brightest star in the sky, Sirius (the Dog Star, in Canis Major). There are planets brighter than Sirius, and one .. Venus .. is in the upper left, above the jet contrail. The previous morning, Venus had been just off a point of the waning crescent moon .. an event that Christine Lavin sang about in her 1990 song "Venus Kissed the Moon Tonight."
