I just went out to check whether I needed to water my front planters/pots, and who should appear but this little anole on my front bench. It was so nice of him to stay put while I dashed inside for both camera and phone. This is a phone shot.

(32,728 posts)There's one in my courtyard that I often see on screens of my windows. Going after midge type gnats, etc.

(32,728 posts)The shot is indeed just a corner of the 5 ft planter by the bench between my driveway and front porch. I redid my front landscaping from builder boring when I put in the planter and filled it with annuals. I often sit there in the morning with coffee when there's a colorful dawn. The purple flower is Verbena. From the driveway side:

(32,728 posts)It has Verbena (purple flower) Apple blossom impatiens, asparagus fern and red caladium, which have faded from the summer heat. I'll probably repeat the same annuals next spring, without the caladium. When cold weather takes out the current flowers, I'll replace with pansies, which carry through the winter here.

(32,728 posts)I'm not fond of snakes, spiders, or rodents, and I do have some stories to tell about all three. But these little green anoles are very cute and there are several of them that live around my house and I see them frequently. This particular one was quite small. Maybe a juvenile? It did startle me, but in a pleasant way.
