My experiences in Akron are pretty much confined to the Akron Civic Theatre, the Akron Art Institute, Lou & Hy’s Deli (fabulous chocolate chip cheesecake) and a big summertime street fair. Well, also a couple of Rubber Ducks games, but that was much later.

6. That picture is from '33-'35. The Art Institute has moved to a new home, but the old building is still standing ...

... It's hard to be more ruined than running it into the ground. Lou & Hy's had a loyal customer base from almost 30 years, but the next generation decided to "update" it, and that was exactly the worst thing to do. I don't think it went five years. They made out all right, some developer overpaid for the lot and tore it down and built some sort of housing out of it.
