Love this! I saw them perform at the Akron Civic Theatre!

2. And I was there, too! In the balcony. I think the tickets were $2.50 or $3.50.

4. We had three wonderfull places there: the M O'Neil Co, the Peanut Shoppe, and the Civic. Spent lots of time in ...

... all three.

See the Loews Theater? That became the Civic.

5. Great photo, marble falls! What year?

My experiences in Akron are pretty much confined to the Akron Civic Theatre, the Akron Art Institute, Lou & Hy’s Deli (fabulous chocolate chip cheesecake) and a big summertime street fair. Well, also a couple of Rubber Ducks games, but that was much later.

6. That picture is from '33-'35. The Art Institute has moved to a new home, but the old building is still standing ...

... Lou and Hy's was taken over by the next generation and they ruin't it.

7. I thought Lou & Hy's closed.

So did Corky & Lenny’s in Cleveland. All the great old Jewish delis ….. such a shame.

8. I thought Herb & Irvs on Coventry in Cleveland Hts was closed, too. Just found out it moved to Taylor Rd ...

... It's hard to be more ruined than running it into the ground. Lou & Hy's had a loyal customer base from almost 30 years, but the next generation decided to "update" it, and that was exactly the worst thing to do. I don't think it went five years. They made out all right, some developer overpaid for the lot and tore it down and built some sort of housing out of it.

10. I loved skating. I could go straight and make the curves of the oval. Stopping meant grabing a column or up ...

... against the wall. But the stereo was high quality and the music all R&R.
