While exploring a solo career, Raul Malo found a home with the country band The Mavericks. First meeting Robert Reynolds during the 1980s, the two found common ground with a shared love for Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The two eventually formed The Mavericks, adding members along the way. Over the following decades, the band won awards and released over a dozen albums.

And with a new year, it seems Malo is excited to hit the road again as the singer offered fans an update about his cancer battle. Over the weekend, The Mavericks will take the stage for the first time in 2025. For fans of the band, they remember Malo announcing his fight with cancer just last year.
