On this day in 1824 the composer Bedřich Smetana was born!

Pay tribute to this legendary figure by watching conductor Semyon Bychkov and the Česká filharmonie perform Smetana’s poignant symphonic cycle Má Vlast (My Country). The most famous poem, "Vltava" (The Moldau), will transport you into an idyllic, fantastical, and mysterious world! ✨🎵 https://bit.ly/3SoUvwl

... but I can do without Medici's shakedown for membership in order to hear it. In better times, it wouldn't matter that much, but these are not better times, at least, not for me.

Smetana is among my 2-3 favorites, and Moldau my # 2-3 too; I live beside a river.
