This is the new note about posting that I'm planning to add to the welcome/guidelines post at the top of the board.
I'm just going to add it there - https://www.democraticunderground.com/103470757 - because I don't want to take another space from the first page for a separate guideline.
I'll be locking the earlier discussion thread about this - https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034139985 -
so it will just slip off the board.
The additional text, which will be inserted ABOVE the "final note on replies" section of the guidelines:
This board is a shared platform, and it's important to remember that when posting. Please do not post more than 10 OPs (new threads) a day, since doing so can take up a disproportionate share of space here - especially on the first page, which is the one that gets the most attention from regulars and newcomers alike. Most people posting here rarely if ever get close to posting as many as 10 threads a day, but we have seen post counts here in a single day go as high as a few dozen posts from one person, which would fill close to half the first page. Btw, day in this context means a 24-hour period, not the calendar date changing at midnight - we have DUers from around the world, in lots of different time zones - so posts shortly before and shortly after midnight would effectively be within one day, not two.
Limiting yourself to 10 new threads a day does NOT mean limiting yourself to 10 songs a day. It's always possible to post more than one song in an OP, and many people here do, especially when posting multiple tracks from the same artist.
