Sadly, The New York Dolls lost it's voice Friday.

I got a tear over this one. I've been a fan of David Johansen and Buster Poindexter since the beginning. His songs have spanned a few relationships. They collapsed the old Broadway Central Hotel, for chrissakes.

His untimely finale was due too a recently discovered stage 4 cancer and a brain tumor. Judging his insane stage show I suspect the tumor may have been there all along, but I digress. He was 75. RIP David.

Rolling Stone once called the Dolls “the mutant children of the hydrogen age”. In the '80s Johansen adopted the persona of Buster Poindexter, a 1930s Lounge Lizard. The CD that always makes me smile.

The song that brought down the house. Here on "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert". Remember that show?
