Not that I ever felt ‘guilt’ over liking the song, but as an adolescent, some in my rock’n’roll cohort held any form of country-western music in disdain. I pretty much told ‘em to get some earplugs if you can’t take it.

Guess I have ALWAYS enjoyed Classic songs.

Be it Country, Rock n Roll, Irish tunes,
Blues,

BUT I did stop wearing my lizard tipped Tony Lama Cowboy boots AFTER
that damn Urban Cowboy movie.

I’m more of Willie Nelson country

I JUST CAN NOT STAND LISTENING to almost ALL the modern Country Music
artists

Give me Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Texas Playboys,
Asleep at the Wheel, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark,
Jerry Jeff Walker, etc

Although I might give Jerry Jeff Walker his walking papers and invite John Prine instead.

My friend lost his brother in Vietnam

My friend suffered from alcohol abuse,
That war messed him up.

As he rarely ever mentioned that war to me,
Was too painful

Ugly ugly war.
Killing so many, as a grunt, messed him up.

As he once told me….”My Lai happened every god damned day”
