And, that weird because they were so good at lush, and this song is the opposite of lush.
But, there's something about this song that always grabbed my ear.

... the rest of the band. The cover of that album. There was nothing to not like about the whole package, including an ability to get through a show.

Brian left after "Country Life" which I did like a lot.
Siren was the first album without him, but it was at a point where Phil & Andy started contributing more song ideas, so it became a more egalitarian environment. Bryan still wrote the majority of the songs, but everything now went through the band blender before being recorded.
On some of the later stuff, McKay started pushing the layered stuff because he was always into synths. Interestingly, he was no longer with the band for the Avalon period. Paul Carrack, and later Ferry himself, played all the keyboard parts.
I was a big fan of the band for years so I was pretty tuned in to the lineup changes.
