Galway Girl is at the top of the list of favorite songs played by bands in pubs and music venues, and on the streets by buskers in Ireland. His live version with Sharon Shannon is a delight. The video of Sharon playing the tune with a singer called Mundy and others live outside in Galway city, along with a massive crowd is a must see. Steve had previously recorded a song with the similar tune called “Dixieland”. In a live video at the Farm Aid show in Seattle, 2004, he intros the song , explaining it being about recent immigrants from Ireland joining the Union cause( 20th Maine brigade) in the US civil war against the confederacy for the sake of justice and against class war. I think you’ll like it. Steve’s an American treasure.
