Clapton is a racist right wing POS. ForgoTheConsequence Feb 9 #1

black musicians and learned from the absolute most talented black jazz and blues players. I can't explain or diagnose, but...

That said, the song is (and remains) poignant because of how his child died and thus what inspired the song.

I agree his son's death was tragic, no doubt.

That being said, I'm not sure a progressive forum is a place to celebrate a musician who said:

“Stop Britain from becoming a black colony. Get the foreigners out,” exclaimed Clapton to his captive audience. “Get the w*gs out. Get the c**ns out. Keep Britain white,” he added.

Clapton began his remarks in the worst possible way, addressing the audience: “Do we have any foreigners in the audience tonight?” he began. “If so, please put up your hands. So where are you? Well, wherever you are, I think you should all just leave. Not just leave the hall, leave our country. I don’t want you here, in the room or in my country.”

He added: “Listen to me, man! I think we should send them all back.”

I guess a positive is that because of his dumbassery, he inspired the Rock Against Racism movement in the UK.

I gave an opinion. That's not how censorship works. I don't have "censorship" power.

And I pretty much believe he's an asshole.
But it doesn't negate that he's a good musician and that this is a pretty song. This forum is titled music appteciation and not is this guy a good guy or an asshole.

And Clapton himself has said he's embarrassed of his earlier racist behavior. People can grow.

Most of the time. This is one of those times. It is a beautiful tribute to the loss of a son.

I feel the same way. There are many artists I don't post because of their politics and because I think their talent does not over-ride their politics. I won't post Three Doors Down although I like Kriptonite, I won't post Kidd Rock although I liked Picture. So like you I have a standard. Claptons talent over-rides his views. And as I said this forum is MUSIC appretiation., not is this guy an asshole or not.
