1. This Entire Album Is An Astonishing Musical Journey Through The Dark Smoky Nights Of My Past

I and my honey encountered the album in 1990.

I sing and play guitar for Please Call Me Baby and Fumblin' With The Blues.

Tom is soooo guttural and growly on the rest of his albums which is cool...

But... The Heart of Saturday Night , his lyrical tapestries, instrumentation, arrangement, and smooth vocal performances combine to make this album unlike any of the rest of his myriad of performances.

Our daughter grew up asking us to play Depot, Depot repeatedly...
She's an aficionado to this day!

It's my favorite, and he's great, even with a guttural voice.
It's cool that you sing and play guitar for his songs.
I love songs that pull me in with even one extra perfect line (among others) like "Life's so different than it is in your dreams."
Your daughter is lucky to have been exposed to great music.
Depot Depot - i love the line: "I'm gonna paint myself blue." 😀

I see the taxis pull up and idle...
But I can't claim title to a single memory...

from an earlier time in one's life, with all of the memories, can be bittersweet but also uplifting and even healing. There are some songs that a person might not be ready to revisit yet, but they will know when the time is right.

8. I have to kids, now in their late 20s. It's been fun watching them find those songs and styles.

They turn me on to new music all of the time, but the ones that sick for me are still the ones from my late teens and twenties.

at that age we were just beginning to figure out who we were and we relied on that music to get through it, so it's like an old friend that we don't want to forget, but we should remind ourselves that it's important to made new friends, too. 🙂
