(73,985 posts)she was flawless. there was a running family debate about her hearing. she probably had some hearing loss, but i swear she heard me. and the mailman.
had her when my kids were small, and she was my nanny. shed watch them in the back yard. if they went in the yard next door, shed pace the fence. if a kid was sick in bed, thats where she was.
since she was white, the kids couldnt resist the occasional paint job. she had a few spots, so their favorite thing was to get out the markers, and give her some more.
somewhere theres a pic of her and the youngest in a big cardboard box, spots and all.
and of course, she was my best friend in those stressful yrs.
she made it to 14. she had spondylitis all through her spine. she must have been in terrible pain, but youd never know it.
im on my 16th dog, and she was, hands down, the best.

(13,605 posts)My best dog was a little Basenji who as a puppy from day one knew he was to protect the baby and he did. He made it to 19. Had a heart attack and died in no pain. He didn't even seem to have any arthritis or joint pain either.
