I was released from the hospital this evening after receiving the results for the chemical stress test for my heart. The results indicated some heart damage so I will be consulting my cardiologist when he arrives back from vacation to move up my scheduled appointment. I was prescribed beta blocker and heart arrhythmia medications.
I'm not in any pain and have felt relatively well since the breathing difficulty and increased heart rate I had on Sunday morning, so I was mostly there for observation while they added medications and administered the stress test. At this point I remain at risk of having to return to an ER, but I'm waiting for the cardiologist's opinion of how to proceed which could include ablation surgery or receiving a pacemaker. While concerned, I'm maintaining a positive mindset that the problems are resolved.
Finally, thank you to all that sent birthday wishes to me on Sunday and for the get well wishes in another thread. Those comments kept me feeling cheerful while I was hospitalized.

My Mom had a pacemaker. Everything was transmitted by phone then. Now it's likely through you cellular.

(5,094 posts)I also have AFib. I was offered an ablation. It's a relatively painless procedure, and it works. Sometines the AFib will come back, though, and mine did after a couple of years. In early August I am seeing the electrophysiologist who did the first one to talk about a second one. A second one has about a 90% effectiveness rate, so if my doctor wants to do it, I would definitely do it again!
